The JAMB subject combination for civil engineering is:

• Use of English (Compulsory subject for every JAMB candidate).
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry

This means that you need to write Use of English, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in JAMB if you want to study civil engineering in any Nigerian university. You also need to score at least 180 in JAMB to be eligible for admission, although some universities may require higher cut-off marks.

O’level Requirements for Civil Engineering 2025/2026

The O’level requirements for civil engineering are:

• Five (5) SSC credit passes to include Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and one Science subject.

This means that you need to have at least five credits in WAEC, NECO, or GCE in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other science subject such as Biology or Technical Drawing. You can also combine two sittings of O’level results as long as you have the required subjects.

Direct Entry Requirements for Civil Engineering 2025/2026

The direct entry requirements for civil engineering are:

• ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics.
• ND/HND upper credit at appropriate levels.

This means that you can gain admission into 200 level to study civil engineering if you have ‘A’ level passes in Physics and Mathematics from IJMB, JUPEB, NABTEB or Cambridge. You can also use your National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND) with upper credit from a recognized polytechnic or college of technology.
